The Lottery Office was proud to welcome a team of volunteers from Orange Sky to our office for a special visit celebrating our partnership and shared commitment to supporting Australians experiencing homelessness and hardship.
The visit marked the official presentation of our recent $110,000 donation, with CEO, Jaclyn Wood presenting the cheque to Orange Sky in recognition of the incredible work the organisation carries out in communities across Australia.
Supporting a Life-Changing Service
Orange Sky provides free mobile laundry and shower services to people experiencing homelessness, while also creating a welcoming space for meaningful conversations and connection.
The $110,000 donation will help Orange Sky continue delivering these vital services, ensuring more Australians have access to clean clothes, warm showers, and the opportunity to connect with caring volunteers.
A Behind-the-Scenes Look at an Orange Sky Van
As part of the visit, Orange Sky brought one of its iconic orange vans to The Lottery Office, giving staff a unique opportunity to see firsthand how the service operates.
Employees were invited for a guided tour of the vehicle, which is equipped with washing machines, dryers and a private shower. Volunteers explained how the vans travel to communities, providing free laundry and shower facilities while creating a welcoming environment where every person is treated with dignity and respect.
For many staff members, it was the first time seeing the impressive mobile service up close and learning about the practical challenges and rewards of operating the vans.
Volunteers Share Their Stories
The Orange Sky team also spoke to staff about their experiences as volunteers, sharing the powerful impact that simple conversations can have on someone's day.
They explained that while clean clothes and hot showers are important, the human connection is often just as valuable referring to those who visit and use the van as ‘friends’.
